take measure in reducing graywater and blackwater to levels of purify equivalent to Alaska wastewater standards.
RCI commits to improve and upgrading all their onboard sewage and wastewater treatment fleet-wide. The commitment agreed by
Royal Caribbean International include:
> All RCI cruise ships will be installed with advanced wastewater treatment technology by 2008.
> The results of third-party audits of Royal Caribbean's wastewater treatment will be made public.
> Daily
sewage and graywater
generated by RCI cruise ships will be treated to higher standards before the waste is released in the ocean.
This clean cruise ship definitely is a great advantage to all popular cruise attraction places whever they go, especially to Alaska.
The effort start in June, 2003, Oceana's
Stop Cruise Pollution
campaign set out to convince Royal Caribbean International to improve its waste treatment practices. Eleven months later, in May 2004, Royal Caribbean agreed to install advanced wastewater treatment technology on all of its ships by 2008.
